1/72 Hasegawa VF-1D (WIP)

Second Hasegawa Macross Kit. I am loving it :)

This is an old and it comes with Photoetch parts.

One thing I like about this kit is, its the only TWIN seater Macross kit for this series

other than the VF-0D and VF-0B from Macross Zero.

On with the WIP

16 Aug 2006

The basic seam line removal for clear canopy.

Sand with 600 Grit Sandpaper

Polish wih Gunze Rubbing Compound and the seam line is gone :)

Will KLEAR/ FUTURE it in the weekend for a nice and CLEAR effect.

The Photoetch parts.

Had a hard time placing the vertical fins to this...need to align again..

Cockpit with no side details...

Cut out some small thin bits of styrene for the side panel details

and with the PE control handles.

28 Aug 2006

Progress has been slow, only manage to paint the cockpit and putty all the seam lines of the kit.

I am adding a 'nose' weight to balance the head of the plane with the rest of the body.

The 'weight' is some old book shelves support superglued to the inside of the nose.

Nicely balance on a 2.5mm square rod. :)

Next up.. ALL THE SANDING!!!

09 Sept 2006

Preshaded with brown and AB the rest of the colours.

Mr Colour 'Orange' and 'Randome' (No. 318)

I just finished the decal tonight. Tomorrow hopefully got some time to clear coat and panel lines :)

11 Sept 2006

It's Panel Line Time :)

I mix Tamiya Enamel Semi Gloss Black with Zippo Lighter fluid S$3.60.

(as I do not have good experience with enamel wash as it always cracks the plastic...)

Anyway.. the lighter fluid works great and easy to work with :)

Have not panel line.

Apply the lighter fluid wash.

Wipe off with tissue soak with lighter fluid.

The rest of the lovely panel lines :)

Panel lines DONE.. next few days will be the hand painting the details..
